Getting out of Starvation Mode and Losing the Fat Turns out I’ve not been eating enough….for years. Or rather I’d normally eat around 800 calories, then go crazy once a week or so and eat pizza or eat out and jump up to 2000-3000. My body, already starving, takes those extra calories and guess what? Stores them as fat.

…or at least that’s what I’m being told.

Soooo in my latest attempt to get fit I’m tracking my progress at The Daily Plate (LiveStrong.com) and My Fitness Pal. I’ve been logging on TDP since 6/19 but I decided to log at MFP as well because it has a few improvements:

  • I can record any measurements I want beyond the basic Chest, Waist, Hips and Neck available and TDP. In my case I’m also recording Thigh, Calf, Wrist, Forearm, Breasts (so I know when to get new bras) and Waist-sucked in (it’s a 3 inch difference, and this way I’m measuring both).
  • MFP has a built-in calorie deficit, and as you record your exercise it’ll prompt you to eat more to make sure your net is the correct deficit. TDP does this too, but a little differently.
  • The nutrient guidelines at MFP, at least for protein, carbs and fat seem a bit clearer to follow to me.

So, we’ll see if either is better for me, and if I can really lose weight eating 1200 calories plus exercise. I know it’s not much to most people but it was a struggle to eat that much today.

Meet my new mower, the Fiskars Momentum I’ve owned my new Fiskars Momentum mower for almost a month now and I really enjoy mowing with it.

I’ve mowed with gas and electric rotary mowers and one other manual reel mower. My Fiskars Momentum is my favorite so far. No gas fumes, noise and it’s easier for me to push than my old reel.
